| Things ain't looking too rosy for the new Knight Rider... I knew casting Val Kilmer as the voice of Kitt was a mistake every movie that I know he's been in has been slated (barring Top Gun) - Quote :
- Ready To Give 'Knight Rider' A Second Chance?
It's back to basics for NBC's "Knight Rider."
In an effort to breathe new life into the show, the network decided that they needed to get back to what made the original "Knight Rider" series work: the idea that one man could make a difference. Well, one man and his car.
That's not new ... but it's still debatable on if NBC is going to even give the show a chance.
Though the show was just picked up for a full 22-episode season in October, it only took until November for NBC to see that the show wasn't working out as well as expected. Come December, the show was reduced to 17 episodes.
Showrunner Gary Scott Thompson told SFX Red Alert about the changes that have been made to the show. Along with the elimination of characters played by Yancey Arias, Sydney Tamiia Poitier and Bruce Davison, the terrorists are gone, too.
"Mike (Justin Breunig) is told to go back to the idea that one man can make a difference: that he should go out and help people who need help and not take on the terrorist of the week," Thompson said. "As a result, they've kind of gone rogue and will be operating outside of the law. So the government shuts them down and what they do from there is the shows new direction."
In case you are still watching the show, it has about five weeks to pick up the ratings -- or it probably won't return for a second season.
"This is really the network's reboot. They don't like when I say that, but these are marching orders, coming down," Thompson said.
For now, "Knight Rider" can be seen on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Taken from http://www.syfyportal.com/news425745.html | |
