| Pretty much everytime I play CoD4 I get disconnected after a short space of time and I loose any other internet based connections I have running (ie Teamspeak and Xfrire). Anybody have any ideas why or how I can fix it?

| OK mate, lets see if we can sort this out... Do you use a router? If yes, what make and model is it? Do you share your connection with anyone else in the house? try and do a trace route when it kicks you off.. Start - run - type "CMD" press enter - at the black screen type "tracert 193.200.158.154 > c:\trace.txt" When thats finished type exit, then go to your c drive and open the file called "trace.txt" copy and past the result in a post here and we'll see what we've got | |

| Thanks for the info. I'll do that next time it happens.
I do use a router but it is VERY rare someone else uses it while I am gaming. Everytime this has happened so far I have been the only one using it. Nevertheless, its a Netgear WGR614 v7. In addition though when it does disconnect me it is normally back up again working fine within about 30 secs (although I normally stop playing cod then so not sure if it would happen a second time. I'll try it next time tho) | |

| My netgear does funny things when wireless is switched on.. - may be worth switching that off? Also: is it only COD4 that it happens in? Is there any pattern to the disconnects? (i once fixed a PC that disconnected pretty much every 10 mins after finding a pron dialer on it and removing it!) Run Spybot search and destroy and adaware on your PC. Are you wireless/cabled? Have you tried running just COD4 for an hour and then adding TS for an hour and then adding Xfire (I've known both of them to faff aroundd with net connections) I can go on with the questions but that should do | |

| I can say with certainty that when every I refresh my CoD4 server list my connection drops.. no idea why.. so it could be something to do with the way CoD4 utilises it's network protocols.. | |

| This sorted itself out for a while but glad you bumped it TC as its happened again recently. This time it seems to be when it tried to load a new map, but again, not all the time.
I'm pretty sure its only CoD4 it happens in I update and run Spybot regularly and I have no problems. Anti-virus and firewall are up to date too Cabled (although the router is capable of wireless, but I have no clue how to check if that part is switched on!) Not tried your final suggestion, but every time I alt tab out of CoD my PC sounds like its drying painfully so I try not to do it tbh!!

| your router can be (normally!) accessed via this: http://192.168.0.1 you can turn off/on wireless there. Sounds like stopping playing COD4 will sort your issues | |
