So... Should I stick Vista 64 on my new machine when I get it or carry on with windows XP?
I'm inclined towards XP tbh, after reading up on the "will not use 4gb RAM" thing and it seems this is a mis-understanding. Apparently since SP2 XP32 can read 4gb of ram.. the mis-understanding comes from the fact the Windows can only see 4gb max, and out of this 4gb it assigns 512mb of that RAM for it's self (look up RAM drives on google) to operate.. so in windows you only see 3.5gb listed.
The reason I'm tempted to go vista 64 is cos I've seen it running on another machine, with 2 320gb SATA drives RAID 0. It was like billy wizz after snorting a pound of cocaine!! lol Vista 32 is a pile of shite but the full 64bit OS is quite a beast.. When I get my new system up and running the specs will be:
Intel Quadcore 2.66mhz
4gb Geil Black Dragon RAM
2x 750gb SATA2 HDD's RAID 0
BFG Extreme Overclocked Nvidia 260
So the machine can handle vista easily..
Should I, or shouldn't I?
P.S Dual boot isn't an option due to RAID.
